Official Recognition!

Winifred Holtby School Technology College - Officially one of the most improved schools in England

Official recognition of this fact took place on Monday 23rd February when Head teacher Steve Liddle was invited to a celebratory meal at The Royal College of Physicians, London.

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) took the opportunity to recognise 587 schools from across England that have made significant improvement in Keys Stage 4 outcomes on an annual basis.

Winifred Holtby was recognised for producing annual student improvement from 2005-2008 in achieving 5+ A*-C GCSE’s, including English and maths. In 2005 only 1 in 5 of the students leaving Year 11 achieved the gold standard, in 2008 this had risen to 1 in 3.

Head teacher Steve Liddle attended the event on behalf of the students, staff and the community and took the opportunity to praise the hard work and dedication of the staff who continue to provide a quality education service for the students in their care.
