The Health & Social Care Staff

KS4 - Y10 & Y11

Students have the opportunity to follow this course at two levels.

- BTEC Introductory Certificate in Health and Social Care,
- BTEC First Certificate in Health and Social Care.

Both courses are worth 2 GCSE’s, BTEC First Certificate equivelant to 2 x A-C GCSE grades, BTEC Introductory Certificate equivelant to 2 x D-F’s GCSE grades.

The courses are assignment initially based over one year with the option of continuing for a further year to acheieve a Diploma worth 4 GCSE's. There are no examinations. Excellent attendance and commitment is necessary.

These courses provide and exciting opportunity for students who may be looking at careers in the Health Service, Social Work, Early Years and Social Care.

Much of the work involves independent learning although paired and group work also takes place. Students have the opportunity to use ICT for research. Work produced may be written , in the form of posters, leaflets and in role play. Outside agencies also contribute to the content of the courses.
