PE Course Outline

Key Stage 3 Core PE

All students have the opportunity to cover a wide range of activities that include the following; football, rugby, hockey, netball, swimming, cricket, tennis, athletics, badminton, table-tennis, basketball, trampolining, softball, rounders.

Key stage 4 Core PE

Students cover compulsory activities in terms 1 & 2 and then choose from a range of activities in term 3.

BTEC First Certificate in Sport

Qualification summary

The BTEC Firsts in Sport have been developed to focus on:

• education and training for those working in the sport sector
• providing opportunities for those working in the sport sector to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally specific qualification
• providing opportunities for learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the sport sector or to progress to further qualifications such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Sport and Sport and Exercise Sciences
• providing opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.

Overall Assessment Method

The qualification is assessed through internally set assignments and externally verified through National Standard Sampling. In addition centres go through an ongoing Centre Risk Assessment process to ensure the quality of provision and internal verification systems and practices.
